‘I was 35 years old and it was 1996 when I first was taught to paint. I was taught by my Anangu elders while I was living and working in Yulara and Mutitjulu in the Northern Territory. I paint the stories of ‘The Seven Sisters Dreaming’ and ‘The Yeperenye Caterpillar Dreaming’ set by our ancestral spirits in the Dreamtime. These paintings are an aerial view of the land and represent Central Australian desert habitats. I paint my own experiences in the style in which I was taught by my elders. To create them I use ancient iconography, working both in ochre and contemporary colour.’
