Helen Stewart

My first art lessons were with the Mentone-Mordialloc Art Group Inc. I then joined Ron Spencer’s Joy of Art Group in Aspendale, Melbourne.

In 1998 I attended the Botanical Art School of Melbourne, specialising in drawing, watercolour and pencils; my favourite media. I have spent time on the island of Savu Savu (Fiji) painting a variety of tropical plants and flowers and landscapes with my teacher Leonie Norton. I also attended a workshop to paint various species of Banksias with Leonie Norton at the Beechworth Institute of Botanical Art. I have a particular love of Banksias as they are everywhere in East Gippsland, where I grew up.
